EXPANDED METAL FENCES EXPANDED METAL is available in many gauges and sizes and can be used in many different application. Many ornamental fences or chain link fences have an option to use expanded metal. for covering security area where you need visibility but strong barrier for human intrusion. High voltage areas etc.

System is available in many gauges and sizes and can be installed in three different ways

• ULTRA STYLE
• INTERMEDIATE STYLE
• RETROFIT

In all three styles you can see clearly through with no impediment to light and air. It is nearly unclimbable and impenetrable. No raveling is the advantage that expanded metal has over wire cloth or perforated metal.

Carbon Steel - ASTM A569/A569 M - 85; Military Specifications MIL - M - 17194C; TYPE 11 CLASS 1
Stainless Steel - T304 AND T316;ASTM - ASTM - A - 240 - 90; Military Specifications MIL - S - 46044A ( MR ) TYPE 11
Guard Shield Fence System - ULTRA STYLE
The expanded metal ( fabric ) shall be hot dipped galvanized. Fabric can also be specified oven baked polyester powder coated. The size of the fabric depends on how much see through opening is desired. Specify 9 gauge fabric with a 3/4" or 1" opening, or 6 & 7 gauge fabric with a maximum opening of 1" or 1 1/2".

FITTINGS - shall be hot dipped after fabrication
POST CAPS - shall be malleable iron dome shaped for 1 5/8" - 2" - 4 1/2" - 6 5/8" size and acorn shaped for 2 3/8" - 2 7/8" - 4". All shall be fastened with two stainless steel set screws 180 degrees apart as manufactured by " Boundary Fence & Railing Systems, inc.." LOOP CAPS - shall be malleable iron rounded on top as manufactured by " Boundary Fence & Railing Systems, Inc.."
EXTENSION ARMS - shall be 45 degrees malleable iron which fits over 2 7/8" OD pipe and inside the 4" OD pipe. Barb arm extension shall be 1 7/8" OD pipe with a 1 7/8" OD malleable plug on top. Please specify the desired length of the extension arm.
SLEEVES - Top rail sleeves shall be 11 gauge steel. Boulevards & end clamps - any mid and bottom rails shall be connected to the vertical post by a 2 1/2" wide x 3/16" thick clamp. Ends and gate posts shall use end clamps 2 1/2" wide x 3/16" thick. Corner posts shall use corner boulevards. Boulevards and end clamps are held together by a 3/8" x 2 1/2" hot dipped galvanized carriage bolt and nut.
POST CLAMPS - Shall be 2" wide x 10ga spaced 12" apart for the horizontal rails and 12" apart for the vertical posts.
RAZOR COIL - Optional stainless steel razor coil shall be pre spaced over 15'. 3 stainless steel clips can be attached with 18ga x 6 1/2" stainless steel ties attached to the 14" vertical top extension.
NUTS & BOLTS - shall be 1/2" x 3" stainless steel bolt with a tamper proof break away aluminum nut.
GATES - Swing gates shall be made of 1 7/8" OD ( 2.72 lb/ft ) Schedule 40 pipe. Hinges shall be malleable iron or 3/8” press steel. 2 7/8" x 1 7/8" weighs 21 lbs., 4" x 1 7/8" weights 23 lbs., 6 5/8" x 1 7/8" weighs 28 lbs. Each gate panel will be covered with the fabric matching the rest of the job cut around the hinges no wider than necessary. A clamp will be installed on top and bottom of the cut. 2" x 10ga bands spaced 12" at most will be installed around the perimeter and any mid or diagonal rails. For additional security fabric can be extended 14" above the top gate member.
CANTILEVER GATES - shall be manufactured by " Boundary Fence & Railing Systems, Inc." they shall be of the roll easy slide type and made of 6063 - T6 extruded aluminum alloy one piece track system on 2" square frame with each section no wider than 6'. Fabric shall be attached by 2" x 10ga bands spaced 12" at most. Here also the fabric can be extended 14" higher than the top member to increase security.
GUARD SHIELD FENCE SYSTEM - INTERMEDIATE STYLE The expanded metal ( fabric ) used on the intermediate style can be the same as in the ultra style, but you may choose a lighter gauge and a larger opening. In the intermediate style the fabric does not have to be buried in the ground or have a 45 degree return on top. However razor coil can be attached on top. Fittings - all fabric connections and framework attachments are the same as in the ultra style.
GUARD SHIELD FENCE SYSTEM - RETROFIT STYLE In the retrofit style the Expanded metal is attached directly to the chain link fabric, it is not necessary to remove the old fence. All other ways of attachment are the same as in the ultra style. Any bent post should be replaced and damaged Top - Middle - Bottom rail should be replaced. Due to the weight of the expanded metal gates may need additional bracing.
FINISH - all Expanded metal are available hot dipped galvanized or T304 T316 stainless steel. Both can be specified to the color of your choice. All components shall go through a 5 stage Finishing process : Step 1 - Rinsed and cleaned with clear water.
Step 2 - Phosphate treated to etch the surface.
Step 3 - Rinsed again with clear water.
Step 4 - Components are oven dried prior to powder coating.
Step 5 - Polyester powder is then applied by the electrostatic spray process to a thickness of 2.5 mils(.0635 mm). The metal is then oven heated at 450 degrees (232 degrees c) for 14 minutes. Standard colors are: Black - Chocolate - Ensor green - Olive Green - White. Custom colors are available upon request.
