MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS (ornamental steel)

Standard sections are available in 6' or 8' widths (182.88cm or 243.84 cm) and heights from 1' to 20' (30.48 cm to 609.60 cm). Custom sections are available when desired.

MATERIAL-VERTICAL STEEL PICKETS

Vertical steel pickets shall be made of hot rolled structural steel with a minimum tensile strength of 45,000 psi (310 Mpa). Pickets shall be manufactured as per ASTM A513 and hot dipped galvanized as per ASTM A525-G90. Privacy slats (when used) shall be 26 gauge(.045 mm) as per ASTM A527 and are inserted between the pickets.

GATES

All gates welded first and then polyester powder coated after fabrication. Types of gate available: Single, double drive, cantilever, overhead, and rolling. Gate operators can be installed on all gates. Types if hinges and latches are furnished according to gate size and usage.

HARDWARE(BALL TOPS, BRACKETS, FINALS AND SCROLLS)

All hardware shall be zinc alloy die cast AG40-A as per ASTM B86 with a tensile strength of 41,000 psi (282 Mpa) and a Brinell hardness of 82, or malleable iron hot dipped galvanized prior to powder coating.

ASSEMBLY

Sections and gates shall be factory-assembled with pickets welded or riveted to the rails using a ¼ “ (6.35 mm) industrial rivet #381080691. Posts shall be predrilled and routed to receive the horizontal rails. The rails brackets (when needed) shall be attached by ¼” (6.35 mm) screws. Ball tops, brackets, finials, and scrolls shall be factory assembled. Racked and radius sections are also factory-assembled.

FINISH

All components shall go through a five-stage process: 1) Rinsed and cleaned with clear water 2) Phosphate treated to etch the surface 3) Rinsed again with water 4) Components are oven-dried prior to powder coating 5) Polyester powder is then applied by the electrostatic spray process to a thickness of 2.5 mils (.0635 mm). The metal is then oven-backed at 450o (232o C) for 14 minutes. Standard colors available: Black, Chocolate, Ensor Green, and White. Custom colors are available upon request.
